With the trend of nude makeup kicked up into high gear for fall, we were under the assumption that barely there beauty was sweeping over the faces of women worldwide. Stars like Jennifer Aniston, Blake Lively, and Jennifer Garner graced their September makeup covers without a hint of heavy glam, so we thought no makeup was now the new makeup. Wrong!

A recent article published by the Daily Mail has jolted us back to reality. Turns out women rarely go a moment without having their trusty beauty bag handy. From new relationships, to work, to running into the dreaded ex, ladies never leave home without their lipstick and mascara.

After polling 2,000 women, results show that a third of females are convinced that if they let someone see them without makeup too early into a relationship, it won't go anywhere. Just under half of the women polled would worry that a new partner would find them less pretty without makeup, and a fifth think they would be shocked at how different they look. Say it ain't so!

The stats from the study seem to be accurate for many. Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb even discussed these findings on the Today Show and revealed that a producer of the show, who's been married for years, has never let her husband see her without makeup either! What's going on?

"The research indicates that for many women wearing make-up isn't just a way of looking attractive, it's much more than that, it's a way to be confident and project an image," said Superdrug spokeswoman, Sarah Sharp. 'For women our makeup bag is a key part of our life, giving us the confidence to go out, have fun, be successful and go on dates. It's interesting that it's not just boyfriends who women don't want to bare their face to. They don't want their work colleagues to see them with a naked face either," she explained.

We get the need to look your best at work and for a first date, but there's definitely something to be said for going makeup free! Makeup should enhance your natural beauty, not mask it. Thank goodness for stars like Demi Lovato and AnneLynne McCord who encourage us all to skip the foundation and just be free sometimes!

Another concern these stats triggered? We hope these ladies never sleep in their makeup! Healthy, clear skin is a sure fire way for these ladies to finally be proud to bare it all!
