The "Scandal" season 3 premiere date is less than a month away and the ABC hit series is still casting for the upcoming season with the latest addition being "Private Practice's" Paul Adelstein.

The star, who recently wrapped the "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff, is confirmed to appear in the Shonda Rhimes series.

Although the details on who Aldestein will play have not been revealed, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the actor will appear in season 3 of the Washington drama.

According to the Latin Post, although she kept mum about Adelstein's character Rhimes did touch on the controversy surrounding the main plot of "Scandal" i.e. adultery.

As the creator of the show, she urged fans not to mistake the storyline as an endorsement for "illicit liaisons."

She said, "I don't feel like we're making adultery acceptable. We weren't setting out to make adultery OK."

The "Scandal" mastermind continued, "To me it's not about adultery or not adultery. We're telling the story of these two characters who very specifically have this kind of relationship."

"[However], I like the fact that everybody feels this big debate. That's fantastic, because that's the point."

Rhimes added. "We're not giving a judgment on it one way or the other."

She may not be giving judgment but she did confirm that, Jake (Scott Foley) will be back as a regular character for Season 3, according to the Latin Times.

This means there is going to be a love triangle for Olivia and Fitz, which can possibly lead to Liv dating Jake. But that would require him to first get out of that "hole" he was thrown into for not following orders.

Rhimes spoke about Jake's return to the series. She said, "I really think it's kind of wonderful because they don't know who he is yet. He's getting in the way of their Fitz-Liv love ... but it's his job."

She added, "Also, I've been stalking Scott Foley for a very, very long time."

"Scandal" season 3 returns to ABC on Thursday, October 3rd. Will you be watching?
