Oxygen Media has recently green-lighted a nail art competition show called "Nailed It!"

The show "pits the country's top nail artists against one another as they compete for a cash prize and title of ultimate nail artist," according to Variety.

The show will be based on themed challenges that will test the artists creative and technical ability while using materials such as gels, wraps, polishes, glitter, lace, 3D nail art, and much more.  In each episode, contestants will compete in two nail-inspired challenges, testing their ability to work with extreme themes and custom designs, "from the bride-to-be who wants a replica of her own wedding cake tier on all ten fingers, to recreating art masterpieces using exotic animal prints brought to life."

The new series comes just in time to capitalize on the nail craze that has swept the nation, with polish sales having hit a record high of $778 million just last year alone.  With E! News creating a "mani cam" for red carpets, tons of online nail art tutorials, and millions of social media posts showing of the latest manicure, it's no wonder Oxygen has scouted a few good talented talon experts to base their newest series on.

"Nail art is in the cultural zeitgeist of Oxygen's viewers as young, modern women are looking at new ways to express themselves," said Cori Abraham, Senior Vice President, Development and International, Oxygen Media.

However, there is some criticism that nail art is on the decline.  Women's Wear Daily says nail designgs are on their way out, and more neutral looks are coming in.  They cite Vogue editor Anna Wintour's first instagram pic as evidence as she sports nude nails while holding up a copy of the publication.
