Jennifer Lopez' boyfriend Casper Smart confirmed in an interview that the "Live it Up" singer will be returning to "American Idol."

E! News asked Smart if Lopez was planning on returning to Fox's 13th season of the singing competition, and he replied, "Yes."

The problem is that Fox has yet to make any announcement about the return, according to Billboard.

However, it hasn't exactly been a secret that Lopez was expected to return, as it was rumored she was signing her contract soon.  That being said, Fox declined to comment on Smart's remark.

The only judge that has been confirmed for "American Idol" is Keith Urban.  He judged last season along with Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson, and Mariah Carey.  Minaj, Jackson, and Carey have all announced they would not return for a new season, according to the Huffington Post.

There were earlier reports that Jennifer Hudson, season 3 winner of "American Idol" turned Oscar winner, would be a judge.  There was also talk of Adam Lambert, season 8 runner-up, but both of them were eventually ruled out.

Lopez has judged for two previous seasons, in 2011 and 2012.

Contestants are set to face the judges next month, and the season premiere is expected in January, possibly with some new changes to spice up the long-running show.

"We have new producers," said Fox Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly when he announced Urban would be returning. "They've come in with dynamic ideas to tinker with the format between the auditions and the live ... We want some judges that are good at the job, that people like, that will refocus our attention on the contestants. We want some comfortable judges who make it comfortable to view and make it comfortable for the contestants."
