Katherine Heigl is making a primetime TV comeback after adopting a baby with husband Josh Kelley last year. The "Grey's Anatomy" alum is shopping around a CIA drama, according to E! Online

The blonde actress has done a pilot for an untitled show, gaining serious interest with some networks, reported the celebrity news site.

Alexi Hawley, a supervising producer on Fox's new drama "The Following" and creative mind behind ABC's "Castle" and "Body of Proof,"  wrote the series. Heigl would play an adviser or communications liaison for the U.S. president, with storylines focused on CIA operations around the world.

Heigl has been working on developing the small screen project for a while with Hawley and CIA officials.

The "Knocked Up" starlet is also playing executive producer with her mother, Nancy, E! reported. Her career has stalled in recent years with less-than-successful films and a NyQuil sleep aid commercial, but could be on the rise again if the TV show gets picked up.

The series could go to NBC or another popular network, playing as more of a serious drama than racy soap like "Grey's Anatomy," reported MSN.

Heigl had actually bumped heads with the wildly popular ABC show's executive producer and creator, Shonda Rhimes before she left the show in 2010.

But the fight didn't stop Heigl from trying to resurrect her character, Izzy in 2012 though Rhimes was not interested.
