We know Pantone's Color of the Year, Emerald is so huge, but we are green-eyed over something else. Our friends at Fashionista hipped us to Khaki Green eye shadow. It's officially Emerald's big sis!

Khaki Green reads chic, likeable, wearable and versatile. We like that! And with Chanel going green with their "Mystere" new eye shadow quad this Fall, no more need for convincing. We're hooked. Chanel's compact has two green khakis and two more classic natural beige tones, organic polymer for smudge-proof wear and a slightly moistened applicator for intensity. Don't you just love being green-friendly!

But, there's a trick to turning up the look to truly terrific. You gotta find the color with a bit of a gold fleck in it. Sarah Lucero, Stila's celebrity makeup artist, breaks it down for us. "A lot of us have amber or golden flecks - different colors within our [primary] eye color," Lucero said. "The gold fleck [in the shadow] pulls out and plays with your eye color. Khaki is still soft, it still defines, it's still in the neutral category, but you're kind of branching out into 'color.'

If you want to kick up the khaki trend, wear it as a "wash" over your eyelid or take it bolder by using a creamier formula. Stila's Stay All Day Eye Shadow Trio in Safaria velvety shadow that you can combine with a little water for a luxe finish, is great. Lucero said to wet your brush and apply the bolder color along your lash line.

If you are looking to heat things it up, try mixing the color with darker chocolate brown and smudging for a killer khaki smokey eye. Rocking the color around the lower lash line is also gorg! Ready?

Hup two, three, four...Get to your mirror in zero-hundred hours and get busy. This isn't a drill!
