Looking for a fun and new DIY makeup project?

We got just the right thing that will satisfy your need to be creative and protect your lips at the same time. Try whipping up your own lip balm, according to The Frisky.

Since it's a basic necessity for your everyday makeup routine, following an easy recipe should be enough to making lip balm magic right from your kitchen for an affordable price.

All you need is 4 tablespoons of coconut oil, three of petroleum jelly or shea butter and one of shaved beeswax, according to Style Me Pretty, which lists the whole recipe.

Don't forget this unconventional but much-needed additional ingredient, a small amount of either liquid or powder Kool-Aid. And make sure to grab a container like one from Burt's Bees.

You want to mix the first three ingredients in a microwave safe bowl, then heat up for one minute. If you are doing different colors, separate them into different bowls.

Then, mix in the Kool-aid until you achieve your desired color.

Pour the mixture into the container and refrigerate for an hour or two. While you wait, paint the lid of each container with the color found within it.

Then, take it out and enjoy applying your homemade lip balm without breaking your bank or digging into your wallet.
