After being found guilty of tax evasion and sentenced to one year and eight months in jail on Wednesday, the Italian designer duo of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana may actually avoid doing time.

According to the Huffington Post, the glamorous creative visionaries could not escape the law's long arm and have to pay back $670,000. But the likelihood that the twosome could ever see the inside of a jail cell is supposedly pretty low.

Why?

Well, since the duo was sentenced to less than two years and many people who receive the same never do jail time, the duo could all together skip the orange jumpsuit look. But their misbehaving will still come with a hefty price.

"...The Internal Revenue Service [IRS] might proceed with their operation against [Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana,] fining them for the excessive and surreal amount of more than 400 million Euros," read an excerpt of a statement from the powerhouse pair's lawyers. "Due to the fact that the two designers do not have this money - as the judge stated today, that they have never earned it - most probably, the Internal Revenue Service will attack their most precious part of their partrimony, which is their shareholding in the Dolce & Gabbana Company."

The D & G team released a second statement to clarify a few things including the verdict.

They stated that is was shocking how certain media outlets had "misunderstood" the ruling and that the charges against the two designers for "not including the sum of 1 billion euros on their taxes declaration were dropped."

The lawyers also explained that Dolce and Gabbana's conviction relates only to "their alleged involvement with the administrator of the Company Gado for not having paid $40 million euros of taxes."

They also said the twosome are innocent and they will appeal part of the verdict.
