"Divergent" is getting a lot of moviegoers' attention, having drawn some serious comparisons to "The Hunger Games"  and pegged as the next "YA" movie sensation.

Entertainment Weekly featured new teaser images and an exclusive first look at the highly-anticipated futuristic flick starring Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet and Zoe Kravitz. Their cast and director interviews are available in their upcoming issue, hitting newsstands on June 21.

Based on Veronica Roth's dystopian young adult best seller, the film centers around an evolved society in Chicago divided into five fractions "devoted to particular virtures." Woodley's brave character, Beatrice "Tris" Prior is classified as a "divergent," meaning she is suited for more than one fraction. With that multi-faceted label, she becomes a target, but finds an ally and lover in an instructor dubbed "Four," played by Theo James.

Woodley's character seeks to break free of the "homogeneous society that divides people by human traits and joins a rival group," where she meets and falls for the older "Four," according to IMDB.

The film is directed by Neil Burger, who also helmed "Limitless" with Bradley Cooper.

Woodley is rather happy and cool about the leading role.

"We're not into the industry and have separate lives outside of it," she said to EW. "That's refreshing. I don't know what I would do if Four was played by someone who cared what he looked like and spent more time in front of the mirror than I do."

The film's release date is set for March 21, 2014, according to Cinema Blend

But in giving away some spoiler information, Woodley's character is seen in one picture body surfing over a large crowd, and that film moment could have taken place after her grueling training and meant she was accepted by members of her fraction.

And Roth will soon debut the third book in the trilogy, "Allegiant" and is planning on publishing e-shorts, reported Cinema Blend.
