Henry Cavill is increasingly gaining fame from his perfectly sculpted jaw line and incredible body, however the actor revealed to Details Magazine that he used to be the "fat kid."

It is hard to believe that the man who is playing Superman in the upcoming "Man of Steel" flick could have been anything less than flawless in his younger years but the 30-year old revealed that his youth did not include a toned body.

"I was fat," he told the magazine. "I was Fat Cavill."

The actor who attended boarding school constantly struggled with homesickness, he said, "I bawled on the phone to my mom four times a day. I became an easy target."

The magazine reported that Cavill overcame his loneliness but throwing himself into the theater, constantly acting in school plays to the point he decided to make it his study and focus on drama.

However this was not a career accepted by his stockbroker father who wanted the actor to receive a degree rather than dabble in the arts.

But Cavill was soon cast in a film adaptation to "The Count of Monte Cristo," when casting agents came to his school looking for teenagers with the "right dramatic pedigree" to join the film.

Cavill said that with the role he lost a lot of weight, "I lost one and a half stone"-21 pounds-"and I wasn't Fat Cavill anymore."'

Now playing Superman the star revealed that to buff up for the role he consumed 5,000 calories a day and worked out with trainer Mark Twight. Since his role he has slimmed down but refuses to reveal his current diet and exercise regimen.

The actor discussed his dramatic change for the film, "I will say I was a lot bigger as Superman,"

"A lot bigger. I'm not saying how much. It's modesty about the weight-I've always been worried about my weight-but I also don't want to invite that debate: Henry weighs this, so he's the perfect Superman. Or, Henry doesn't weigh this, and therefore he's not believable in the role."

Amy Adams who plays Lois Lane in the "Man of Steel" was amazed with the actor's amazing appearance, "He's dashing with just a hint of danger, and it's kinda great. It's super-hidden. But you know there's a steeliness within him that makes the gentlemanly qualities all the more interesting."
