The plot follows the friendship between two very different girls, Paige (Jacobs) who is heterosexual and Sasha (Meester) who is deemed as lazy. The film revolves around the story of Paige who vows not to get married until her friend Sasha, who happens to be a lesbian has the same legal rights to marriage as she does.

This plan goes accordingly until Paige meets Tim (Brody) a charming doctor who sweeps the young girl off her feet. As their relationship develops a crucial vote on gay marriage approaches that causes the trio to struggle with issues of friendship, loyalty, and love.
