Looks like Anne Hathaway doesn't want animals to be miserable. We have heard of numerous uncanny demands celebrities make and here is a new addition. According to WWD, Anne Hathaway demanded  vegan footwear for her character in "Les Miserables."

In an interview with the site costume designer, Delgado, revealed that the actress was very particular about how her footwear was made. "She's vegan, so we couldn't use any animal materials on the shoes for her character Fantine. We had to find very specific shoemakers to create lace-up boots and ankle boots. We also did flats that were much more sophisticated," he said.

And it wasn't only the film where she sported these vegan footwear. The actress recently stepped onto the red carpet for the premiere of the classic film and was seen in another unique vegan piece. The 30-year-old flaunted her slender legs in a pair of custom-made vegan version of Tom Ford's gladiator dominatrix boots.

Hathaway turned vegan after filming her Catwoman role in the film "The Dark Knight Rises." Speaking to USA Today after the film, Hathaway said, "After I finished the rooftop fight, I ate four slices of pizza and split a bottle of red wine with my guy. I hadn't eaten like that in months. I felt so ill. By the time the movie finished, I decided to give veganism a try. You can't go hog-wild as a vegan."

And looks like her trick worked as she has been looking extremely trim and slender since.

Hathaway is such a strong believer in veganism that she even made sure that only vegan and eco-friendly plant based delicacies were served for her engagement as well as wedding to actor and jewelry designer Adam Shulman in Sep. 2012.
