Dior has launched its New Look fragrance, a unisex eau de parfum full of contrast, a radical silhouette, and an olfactory surprise inspired by a bold creative approach that pushes the traditional limits set by amber notes.

Inspiration for New Look by Dior's Francis Kurkdjian

The New Look fragrance by Dior's perfume creation director Francis Kurkdjian is a tribute to Christian Dior's revolutionary fashion statement from 1947. Kurkdjian aimed to capture the essence of the New Look's romantic silhouette with rounded shoulders, cinched waists, and billowing skirts, translating it into a scent that blends avant-garde beauty with sensuality. 

Inspired by the blend between couture and fragrance, Kurkdjian used elevated raw materials to create a perfume that echoes the spirit of today's New Look. 

Drawing parallels between fashion and fragrance, he likens crafting a scent to building a dress, emphasizing the importance of shape, structure, and rhythm in both disciplines. The New Look fragrance represents a new chapter of innovation for Kurkdjian in Dior's La Collection Privée, embodying a blend of high fashion sophistication and everyday comfort, much like the iconic New Look silhouette.

The New Look fragrance by Dior is a bold and unique scent that reinterprets traditional amber fragrances with a modern twist. 

It features a blend of aldehyde C-12 MNA, frankincense extract, and white amber notes, giving it a dark and earthy overall aroma. Kurkdjian aimed to honor the beauty of amber by reinventing it with fresh and audacious notes, creating a composition that is both classic and daring. 

The addition of aldehydes adds a sparkling and soapy quality, brightening up the deep and toasted effect of the amber and incense duo. 

Kurkdjian worked to have this fragrance evoke a sense of hope and optimism, much like the iconic New Look silhouette that inspired it. It is a scent that can be worn by anyone, embodying a philosophy of inclusivity and attitude over gender.
