Zendaya embraced an avant-garde style at the most recent promotional event for her upcoming film, "Dune: Part Two."

On Monday, the 27-year-old actress made a striking statement in a cream-colored skirt that featured a three-dimensional lobster on the front at the Comic Con Experience São Paulo in Brazil.

The skirt was matched with a white silk button-down tuxedo shirt, creating a balanced ensemble that required no additional extravagant accessories.

To complement the look, Zendaya sported slicked-back short black hair neatly tucked behind her ears with a subtle curl at the ends.

The statement piece, designed by Daniel Roseberry, is straight off the Schiaparelli Spring/Summer 2024 runway. This skirt pays homage to avant-garde Italian fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli's iconic lobster dress from 1937, itself inspired by the surrealist art of Salvador Dalí, according to Marie Claire.

As the current creative director of the France-based haute couture fashion house, Roseberry skillfully crafts pieces that beautifully meld history, art, and fashion within his contemporary interpretation, showcasing a seamless fusion of these elements.

Beyond the historical significance of the piece, Zendaya's choice to don the lobster skirt to promote "Dune: Part Two" is rooted in a connection between the skirt's design and elements from the movie itself.

Zendaya's stylist, Law Roach, shared his insights on Instagram, unveiling the intention behind the outfit selection.

According to Roach, the look aimed to channel the sandworms, which are fictional extraterrestrial creatures integral to the film's narrative, thriving beneath the dunes.

Roach is one of Hollywood's most acclaimed stylists. With a portfolio boasting iconic looks for A-listers such as Ariana Grande, Hunter Schafer, Megan Thee Stallion, Celine Dion, and Bella Hadid, his influence resonates across the fashion industry.

However, earlier this year, Roach announced his retirement as a celebrity stylist, citing "politics," "lies," and "false narratives" as his reasons for quitting.

"If this business was just about the clothes I would do it for the rest of my life, but unfortunately, it's not! The politics, the lies and false narratives finally got me! You win...I'm out," the caption of his now-deleted Instagram post read.

The 44-year old image architect remained Zendaya's stylist and creative director even after his official retirement.

"Dune: Part Two," which also stars Timothée Chalamet, Austin Butler and Florence Pugh, premieres on March 1, 2024.
