Known greatly for her contributions in the modeling industry, Tyra Banks is now stepping further as she was recently named host of NBC's new season of "America's Got Talent."
NBC, according to Billboard, confirmed on Sunday, March 12 that the award-winning supermodel and "America's Next Top Model" creator will now be a part of their family.
The article said that Tyra will join the AGT series with returning judges Mel B, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Simon Cowell. She will take over the hosting of the show from Nick Cannon, who left the show after 8 years. TV Line reported that Nick who has been with NBC since 2009 decided to call it quits this year after receiving an alleged adverse response from the network from his joke during a Showtime stand-up special.
Following the announcement, Hollywood Life also reported that one of "America's Got Talent" host Howie Mandel welcomed 43-year-old Tyra Banks to the show on his official Twitter account. "Please welcome @TyraBanks to the @NBCAGT family! She's our new host. #TyraBanks #AGT," he wrote as cited in the same report.
Other than Tyra, according to Hollywood Life, an exclusive insider has revealed that NBC is looking those who can make Nick "come back." In addition, the source also added that they are also thinking of letting a newbie join the show preferably female.
Tyra Banks had other hosting stints other than the 22 cycles of ANTM, she was also reported to co-host for a morning show and FabLife. In an interview cited in Billboard, as the new AGT host, she is excited to "connect with the dreamers" and try to make some of them do her signature "smize." Winners for the hit summer contest series of fresh talents are competing for a $1 million prize. Filming for the new AGT season was said to begin this month.
