The saying goes, "beauty is pain," but women suffer just as much for fashion too.

Skinny jean lovers listen up! There are real dangers in a pair of these super narrow, skin-tight denim "essentials." Skinny jeans are a staple in practically every woman's wardrobe, but these fashion must-haves recently put one woman in the hospital.

CNN reports a 35-year-old woman spent the day helping a family member move. The woman's day was filled with bending and squatting as she helped pack, all while wearing a pair of her skinny jeans. It seemed like an innocent day, until it was time for the woman to head home.

The woman's legs and feet became numb while walking, causing her to trip and fall. Completely immobilized, she was finally found hours later and rushed to the hospital.

You're probably in disbelief that a pair of skinny jeans could have caused this, but they were the culprit! "We blame what happened on a combination of prolonged squatting for hours and the tight jeans she was wearing," explained Dr. Thomas Kimber to CNN. Turns out a lot of squatting in skinny jeans can potentially lead to nerve damage.

Doctors report that the woman's jeans had to be cut off of her calves due to how badly swollen they had become! Dr. Kimber explained that, "Normally muscles can expand to compensate for swelling, but there was a tourniquet effect, so the muscles had to expand inwards and compressed blood vessels and nerves." The patient couldn't walk for four days!

The medical study that details the woman's symptoms also indicated she couldn't move her ankles or toes properly. "If she hadn't been able to come to the hospital, the compression could have gone on longer and caused residual nerve damage," Kimber continued.

Thankfully after four days in the hospital, the woman was able to walk again and was released. Would this story make you think twice about rocking your skinny jeans?
