Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has given birth to a baby girl! The fourth in line to the British throne was born on Saturday May 2 in London, as announced by Buckingham Palace at 8:34 a.m. GST.

The baby was born in the private Lindo Wing of St. Mary's hospital, where her older brother, Prince George, was delivered on July 22, 2013. A name has not yet been announced. The British Monarchy's official Twitter page revealed that, "her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."

William, also known as the Duke of Cambridge, is the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II and is second in line to the British monarchy.

Well-wishers, curious onlookers and journalists from around the world started congregating on the street outside the hospital for several days before Middleton went into labor.

Royal media watchers have speculated the Duchess has been awaiting the birth of a baby girl through her fashion choices and carefully worded responses about her pregnancy. According to The Washington Post, the British media and several US tabloid magazines based their guesses on clues such as the pink paint samples the couple reportedly ordered and the fact that the Duchess of Cambridge wore a vibrant pink coat during her final public appearance before going on maternity leave in March.

The new royal baby is the Queen's fifth great-grandchild and the fourth in line to the throne after Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George. Prince William's brother, Harry, is now in fifth place and Prince Andrew, the Queen's second son and the ex husband of Sarah Ferguson, is now sixth in line for the official leadership seat of the British Monarchy.

Once Middleton and her daughter are released from the hospital, it is likely the family will spend a few days at their official residence, Kensington Palace in London, before going to Anmer Hall, their 18th Century Georgian country manor, on the Queen's Sandringham Estate.
