Selena Gomez believed that placing Justin Bieber in a stranglehold at the 2015 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was unnecessary and unfortunate.

The "Heart Wants What It Wants" singer thought that Bieber didn't deserve to be mistreated because he didn't do anything wrong, a source exclusively told Hollywood Life.

Many believed that the incident was warranted but the "Monte Carlo" actress thought it wasn't needed.

"Selena heard about what happened to Justin at Drake's concert and thought it was unfortunate," the insider said. "She said putting Justin in a chokehold seemed totally unnecessary and that poor choices were made. She doesn't believe Justin was at fault."

The "Never Say Never" singer was reportedly placed in a chokehold at the 2015 Coachella festival on Sunday before he was kicked out, TMZ learned.

According to the reports, Bieber and his entourage were stopped by security when they walked to the artist's entrance where Drake was performing.

The 21-year-old singer told security that he could not stand a big crowd because he would get bombarded by fans. When told by the security to leave, Bieber persisted by saying he was personally invited by Drake.

A Coachella staff came up to Gomez's former boyfriend and escorted him inside the private area but a security guard came from behind and put Bieber in a chokehold.

Bieber and his team were then told to leave. They reportedly then left voluntarily.

Bieber's legal team is reportedly considering pressing charges against Coachella's security who kicked them out. But there's no official statement yet from the pop star or any of his team regarding this matter, according to New York Post, .

Meanwhile, rumors recently surfaced that Bieber wants to reunite with Gomez in the recording studio.

"Justin's the one who brought up the collaboration with her. It was right before Coachella that he reached out to her about it. She (Selena) was pleasantly surprised," an insider claimed to Hollywood Life.

Gomez said she and Bieber are on much better terms now.

The "Boyfriend" singer and the "Princess Protection Program" actress began dating in 2011 and officially ended their relationship in Oct. 2014.
