Chris Rock has made up his mind when it comes to officially ending his marriage to wife-of-19-years Malaak Compton. The 49-year-old comedian has reportedly filed for divorce this week.

As per a statement from Rock's representative issued Sunday, the "Top Five" star has already confirmed that he is divorcing Compton despite being husband-and-wife for almost two decades, The Star reports.

"Chris Rock has filed for divorce from his wife, Malaak," the actor's rep said in the statement. "This is a personal matter and Chris requests privacy as he and Malaak work through this process and focus on their family."

The soon-to-be single mother of two also released a statement regarding the issue saying, "After much contemplation and 19 years of marriage, Chris and I have decided to go our separate ways."

The 45-year-old philanthropist then went on to say that though her split from Rock would bring in a lot of changes, her top priority remains to be her kids: Lola Simone, 12, and Zahra Savannah, 10, TMZ has learned.

"Being fortunate enough to lead a life of service by working with those most vulnerable makes me well aware of life's blessings, even when faced with difficulties," Compton continued.

"It is in this spirit that I sincerely ask that their privacy and the privacy of our family be respected during this transition in our lives," she quipped.

Rock and Compton met way back in 1993 and they tied the knot three years later at the Oxon Hill Manor in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

Two years after they tied the knot, speculations claiming that their marriage wasn't working out surfaced, but they denounced such claims.

In 2006, the splitting rumors emerged once again when insiders leaked to TMZ that Chris Rock was already preparing their divorce papers. Despite this, hey proved that their marital union was still going strong by sticking together for a couple more years.

However, new sources revealed that Rock and Compton have been quite good at concealing the truth from the public, noting that they have been plagued by number of marriage issues and that they have been living separate lives for a long time now.

"They care deeply for their kids' well-being and they wanted to wait to make any announcement," one source explained to E! News. "They feel this is the best decision for their kids and each other."

While Chris Rock is known for starring in a number of films, such as "Grown Ups 2," "I Think I Love My Wife," "Good Hair" and "The Longest Yard," Malaak Compton is known as the founder and executive director of StyleWORKS, a non-profit organization which aids women in becoming successful members of the workforce.
