Holiday parties will soon be in full swing, so it's time to take that short hair and sass it up a bit!

Mario Russo, owner & lead stylist of Salon Mario Russo in Boston, has shared with us his styling suggestions for women who are feeling a bit clueless as to how to style their new cropped coif.

Contrary to popular belief, short hair is very versatile, and when it comes to styling for both day and night occasions, it only takes a few bobby pins, a curling wand and the right products to create an updated hairstyle within a matter of minutes.

Consider the Petit French Twist...

Take a simple half-up, half-down 'do and turn it into a truly elegant style. Check out how to achieve this style below:

Petit French Twist

Begin by loosely curling hair with a 1" curling wand. Use Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray ($42) to give hair more texture and volume before styling.

Create a side part. On the side of your part with less hair, gather a section of hair and pull to the back of your head, as if creating a simple half-up, half-down style. Insert bobby pins vertical and upward about midway at the back of your head to secure this section down.

Pull the larger section of hair from the other side of your part to the back of your head.

Twist this section of hair inward once and insert bobby pins vertical and upward into the twist about midway at the back of your head. The twisted hair on top should hide these pins.

Finish the style with a flexible hold hairspray, such as Oribe Superfine Spray ($22).

Easy and done! Loving the look? Tell us with a note below!
