Emma Watson and her rugby star boyfriend Matthew Janney have broken up, according to the actress' spokesperson, Aces Showbiz reported.

The 24-year-old "Harry Potter" actress and the 22-year-old Oxford University rugby player, who  is reading Russian at Oriel College, broke-up a month ago but remain friends.

According to Watson's spokesman, the couple's split was caused by the actress's hectic world schedule. But he added that the break-up was "amicable" and that contrary to reports, the pair had not moved in together.

Watson began dating Janney in the summer of 2013, shortly after she broke up with her long-time boyfriend Will Adamowicz, according to The Telegraph

A spokesman for Watson said there would be no further comment on the matter.

Watson starred in eight Harry Potter movies, alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, but after the release of the final installment, of the series in 2011, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2," the actress has embarked on an increasingly smart post-Potter screen career.

Watson was a part of the cult independent movie "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower," played a cameo role in" This Is The End," followed by "The Bling Ring" with director Sofia Coppola.

The actress has also worked with actor Ethan Hawke and director Alejandro Amenabar on the thriller "Regression" which is one of two films she made that are being released next year, requiring Watson to travel extensively on promotion work, according to the Daily Mail.

At present, she is shooting a political drama, "Colonia Dignidad," in Buenos Aires alongside Daniel Bruhl and Julian Ovenden.

Besides acting, Watson has also expanded her career and became a United Nations Women Goodwill Ambassador, using her high profile to raise awareness of equality issues.

During her first major speech at the UN headquarters in New York, the actress launched a campaign called "HeForShe" where she called on men to speak up for oppressed women all over the world.
