Warner Bros. has officially announced the members of the DC Comics film "Suicide Squad" cast, which will be led by "Dallas Buyers Club" star Jared Leto and "Bad Boys 3" star Will Smith, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

With Leto playing the Joker and Smith playing the antihero Deadshot, "The Dark Knight Rises" star Tom Hardy is also in the cast as Rick Flagg while "The Wolf Of Wall Street" actress Margot Robbie will join as Harley Quinn, the on-and-off girlfriend of the Joker.

Other actors playing villains who are forced to become heroes include model-actress Cara Delevingne as the sorceress named Enchantress and "Divergent" actor Jai Courtney as Boomerang, according to Charlotte Observer.

For Leto, "Suicide Squad" is his first film since the 2013 film "Dallas Buyers Club,' which won him Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role awards from Academy Awards and Golden Globes.

On the other hand, Smith has just completed the 2015 film "Focus" and is currently filming an untitled NFL concussion drama with Alec Baldwin, Luke Wilson, Stephen Moyer, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Bitsie Tullock, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje among others.

Before "Suicide Squad," Smith will also appear in 2015 films "Bad Boys 3" with Martin Lawrence, Edward Zwick's film "The American Can" and "Hancock 2" with Brandon Jyrome Jones and Irene Bedard.

David Ayer will write and direct "Suicide Squad," which is scheduled to be released in August 5, 2016. Other cast members of the film are yet to be announced.

Ayer recently wrote and directed the box-office war film "Fury" starring Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Michael Pena, Logan Lerman, Jon Bernthal, Jim Parrack, Brad William Henke and Kevin Vance among others.

Warner Bros' Creative Development and Worldwide Production president Greg Silverman told CNN that they look forward to "seeing this terrific ensemble, under Ayer's amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero."
