It's a common problem for a lot of women. The hottest trends in tall boots can mean the biggest fall and winter fashion frustration for those who find it hard to fit in them.

A tall boot is super chic. They can go great with practically anything and come in so many styles, plus they're addictive for the cooler months. But for women who find it hard to find the right pair to fit, a new solution is becoming widely popular.

A recent report reveals the growing trend in women seeking calf reduction surgery.

"Styles change and boots get slimmer, or they get longer or higher, so when boots feel snug, it really bothers people," explained Dr. Matthew Schulman, a plastic surgeon, to CBS News.

Now we've heard of a wide variety of motivations that push people to go under the knife, but undergoing surgery for a pair of shoes comes close to the top of the list.

So how exactly does this procedure work? Dr. Schulman says it's really not all that different from other fat-reducing operations that plastic surgeons perform.

"Just like with any liposuction technique, I'm removing excess fat, which shows the underlying muscle and bone structure."

This may sound like an easy fix for those looking to fit those mile high boots, but be warned that the procedure isn't so cut and dry and really needs to be performed by an expert.

"It's a tricky procedure," Dr. Schulman explained. "You're using microliposuction to take out very small amounts of fat."

And patients should also consider the downtime this surgery has. Dr. Schulman also reports that making a full recovery from this calf reduction procedure can take up to 10 months, that almost one full year!

Is this surgery worth being out of commission that long, let alone missing a whole year of fall fashion? Tell us your take with a note below!
