German supermodel Heidi Klum showed up in a butterfly costume for her 15th Halloween birthday bash held Friday, Oct. 31 in New York City, E! News reported.

The 41-year-old came out with elaborate makeup, body paint, big and colorful wings and prosthetics for the large and reflective eyes. Klum said it took her and her team five hours to put it all on and even documented her transformation through a time-lapse video posted on her Instagram account as well as numerous pictures.

"I just flew over here to party," she told E! News at the event at TAO nightclub. The mother of four also said her kids thought the costume was "wild and crazy."

"They said, 'Are you really in there Mama'?" Klum also said that her children weren't scared of this costume and were more scared of her back in Halloween 2013 when she dressed up as an elderly woman.

According to a witness, Klum had to take off her large wings before being able to make her way inside the club, The New York Post claimed. The insider stated that Klum came prepared though, and had a second, smaller set of wings on hand to party in.

When asked why she chose  butterfly, Klum said "someone very special to my heart called me a schmetterling" which is a German word for butterfly.

"I wanted to be a butterfly this year," Klum told E! News. "They're just so pretty and colorful and I used to love painting butterflies."

Klum's party was sponsored by Svedka Vodka and guests included Klum's boyfriend Vito Schnabel, who was dressed as Don Vito Corleone from "The Godfather," as well as artist Julian Schnabel, musicians such as Joe Jonas and Ashanti, "Gotham" star Ben McKenzie, "Gossip Girl" actress Michelle Trachtenberg , "Divergent" actress Zoë Kravitz, and more.

Klum used to spend her Halloween parties with ex-husband Seal decked out in couple's costumes. The couple announced their split in 2012 ending their seven years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in Oct. 14.
