Pop singer Nicole Scherzinger will star as Grizabella in a restaging of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Cats," according to Broadway World.

The revival of one of the longest-running musicals will be the West End debut of Scherzinger, who was the lead vocalist of now-defunct band The Pussycat Dolls. It will premiere at the London Palladium on December 6 and run until February 28.

The strictly limited 12-week run will see the reunion of the Webber-led creative team behind the original 1981 staging of the musical, which includes director Trevor Nunn, associate director and choreographer Gillian Lynne and designer John Napier.

"I am really thrilled to be making my West End debut in such an iconic show. To have the opportunity to work with Andrew, Trevor and Gillian is a dream come true," said the 36-year-old singer.

"I grew up listening to Andrew's extraordinary music and was lucky enough, a couple of years ago, to record 'Cat's' beautiful song 'Memory.' Andrew's score is breathtaking and I am truly honored to have been asked to take part in what I know will be a very special time in my career," she continued.

In August, The Daily Mail reported that Scherzinger was in talks with theater executives for the role.

"It's a lovely idea, and Nicole would be perfect for Grizabella," an executive involved with the planned run told The Daily Mail. "There's desire on both sides for this to work."

It was also reported that Webber was "allegedly very much interested in working with [Scherzinger]." The singer had paid tribute to the composer through a performance earlier in the year.

"Cats" is based on TS Elliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats." It debuted in 1981 at the New London Theatre, where it ran for 21 years with almost 9000 performances.

Scherzinger, who released her debut solo album "Killer Love" in 2011, will release her second solo album "Big Fat Lie" in October, according to Digital Spy.
