Sarah Hyland has secured a temporary restraining order against her former boyfriend claiming that the latter choked her, pushed her and threatened her life.

In the court documents obtained by TMZ, the "Modern Family" star alleged that her ex Matthew Prokop, intimidated her both physically and verbally during the course of their relationship.

Back in May, Prokop reportedly pinned Hyland who played Haley Dunphy, against a car during an argument over her outfit. He also choked her and called her "c**t, c**t, c**t," the actress claimed in the documents.

"His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life," the 23-year-old, who reportedly suffered injuries and a "very sore throat" after the incident, stated in the court papers.

At one point, she reportedly had to seek the help of her TV mom Julie Bowen, to help help "peacefully end the relationship" with Prokop. However, the young man freaked out and "ran outside into the backyard and began screaming" when he saw Bowen.

Prokop is said to have even thrown a lighter at Hyland, threatened to set one of her homes on fire and told her she would never see her dog again.

Despite that the two broke up, the actress claimed her ex-boyfriend "relentlessly bombarded me with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails including his own suicide threats."

Hyland said the director of the rehab facility where Prokop sought treatment in August, advised her to obtain a restraining order after the young lad got out on Sept. 21.

"Out of respect for the court, the process and all parties, I have advised Ms. Hyland not to comment on the matter," Lee A. Sherman, lawyer of Hyland, told People.

The restraining order obtained by Hayland on Friday, reportedly requires Prokop to stay at least 100 yards away from the actress and her dog at all times.
