Jerry Seinfeld said that the late Joan Rivers was set to appear in an episode of "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee," reports MSN News.

However, Seinfeld was informed that Rivers had to reschedule since she had to undergo a medical procedure. 

The late TV host had a throat procedure on Aug 28 and died at 81 on Sept. 4 after her daughter Melissa Rivers decided to take her off from life support, according to E! News.

Rivers died after one week of stay at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York where she was in a medically-induced coma, according to Daily Mail.

On the "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" Facebook page, Seinfeld gushed that Rivers had been excited to appear on the show.

"I just came across this heartbreaking text on my phone from August 19th. I had asked Joan Rivers to be our lead guest on the new season of Comedians in Cars, and she was thrilled," Seinfield wrote.

"Then we got a call saying she was going in for a medical procedure and needed to postpone. I would have loved to have shown another side of her," he continued.

The 60-year old "Seinfeld" producer ended the Facebook post by paying tribute to Rivers, "I wanted to tell her how much I admire all she had accomplished, especially in the latter stages of her career. She was one of the greats. I'll miss her."

Joan River's funeral which was on Sept. 7 was attended by several famous stars including her daughter and co-host Melissa Rivers, Kathy Griffin, Whoopi Goldberg and Donald Trump attended the funeral to pay their final respect to the comedian host.

"Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee" premiered in 2012 and will start its season five in fall. The show is a digital comedy series where star Jerry Seinfeld gets into a vintage car with a guest comedian while they drink coffee.  

The show has invited several stars like Jon Stewart, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tina Fey, Jay Leno, Louis CK, Chris Rock, David Letterman and Ricky Gervais, among others.
