This week we honor classic beauty, Diane von Fürstenberg.

In the spirit fo Fashion Week and all things powerfully beautiful, we thought who more fitting to profile than the iconic fashion designer who invented the timeless wardrobe essential that is the wrap dress?

A staple within the closets of women worldwide, Diane's fashions were first cultivated back in the 1970's. Ironically, the beginning of her business also came at the start of her marriage to a real life prince!

"The minute I knew I was about to be Egon's wife, I decided to have a career. I wanted to be someone of my own, and not just a plain little girl who got married beyond her desserts," the legendary designer said.

Furstenberg married into royalty, acquiring her now household last name through the union. Despite her later divorce, Diane kept the name and would relaunch her business during the late 90's to wide acclaim and a cult following.

The beauty about Diane Von Fürstenberg, aside from her chiseled features and signature voluminous tresses, is her belief in women's empowerment. From her fashions, to her business tips, and even her beauty advice, the designer is all about supporting a woman from every angle.

"What makes you attractive is being yourself, being natural, being unaware," Furstenberg has been quoted as saying. "Even though makeup is important, you should do it all, and then forget about it. You don't want to look like anyone else, any more than you want to be anyone else. You want to look like you."

Despite living in the fashion world, an industry notorious for obsessing over body image, facial features, and dolling out harsh critiques, Fürstenberg doesn't seem at all affected by it. When it comes to looks, the designer recommends keeping everything simple and comfortable.

"It's very often true that some women look better without makeup," Furstenberg said. "The easier your hair is to manage the happier you'll be with it and the prettier you'll feel." No wonder she created one of the easiest pieces of clothing to wear ever!

"If there is one rule for dressing, for fashion, it's pretty much the same rule as for everything else in life: Don't go against yourself, don't go against your own nature. It's only going to show."
