Robert Downey Jr., who starred as Tony Stark in three "Iron Man" films, has revealed that he - like several Marvel fans - also wants a "Hulk" and "Black Widow" standalone movies.

The 49-year-old actor recently told USA Today that he would like to see another "Hulk" film starring Mark Ruffalo.

"The funny thing is honestly at this point everyone deserves a franchise... when folks see the 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'... [Mark] Ruffalo is pumped. He does great (work)," he said. "I'd like to hear them talk even more seriously about a 'Hulk' franchise, because that's been one of the toughest ones to get right. But I'm sure that my parent company is feeling expansive and bold after the summer they've had."

In a July interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ruffalo said that he understands the reason why it is somehow problematic for Marvel to make a solo film for Hulk.

"It's a particularly hard character to make a movie about because he doesn't want to be there, generally. It's hard to make a movie about a guy who doesn't want to be there. And he doesn't want to do the very thing that you want him to do," the 46-year-old Oscar-nominated actor said.

But if the film studio would want to move forward with a solo Hulk movie in the future, "The Normal Heart" star said that a more intimate look at the character is what is necessary, emphasizing that Hulk's greatest enemy is himself.

"I think there's a whole relationship with Bruce Banner and Hulk that needs to be discovered," he said. "There's a very cool thing happening: Hulk is as afraid of Banner as Banner is afraid of Hulk."

Downey Jr. also told USA Today that he would also like to see Scarlett Johansson have her own "Black Widow" film. "Doesn't Scarlett deserve a break?" he said, but thought that the actress might be a little busy now that she recently welcomed her first baby.

During the "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" premiere at London Leicester Square last month, Johansson said that she is also keen for a standalone movie for her Russian spy character.

"If you want to see a Black Widow spin-off movie, then I want to see it," she said at the time, according to Press Association. "We'll see. We will put the request in to Marvel tomorrow."
