A stellar lineup of musicians will pay tribute to The Beatles guitarist George Harrison in a concert called George Fest: A Night to Celebrate the Life and Music of George Harrison at El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles.

The performers in the event, happening on September 28, will include The Beach Boys chief songwriter and leader Brian Wilson, jazz and country musician Norah Jones, and Heart vocalist Ann Wilson.

The Killers' Brandon Flowers and Mark Stoermer, The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd and comedian-musician Weird Al Yankovic will also take part in the gathering.

Hosted by the New York-based Best Fest, the tribute will double as a benefit event for the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, which helps professional musicians with medical care or finances. All proceeds from the concert will go the fund.

George Fest will feature musicians related to Harrison, particularly his son, Dhani. Jones, meanwhile, is the daughter of the late Indian music icon Ravi Shankar, who was a close friend and mentor of Harrison beginning in the 1960s, when he was still with The Beatles.

Joining the roster of performers playing Harrison songs are Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Cold War Kids, as well as members of The Strokes, The Cult, Weezer, Velvet Revolver, and Guster, among several others.

George Fest will happen three days after the release of a new George Harrison box set called "The Apple Years1968-1975," which Dhani Harrison supervised. The set is comprised of digitally remastered reissues of the musician's first six solo albums, which were released on The Beatles' label Apple Records.

Along with the remastered albums will come a selection of rare photos and previously unreleased tracks, including a song called "This Guitar (Can't Keep from Crying)," which features erstwhile band mate Ringo Starr on drums.

George Fest, incidentally, will be held on the same night as Paul McCartney's first public concert in San Diego since 1976.
