Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson knows how to perfectly disprove the almost year-long speculations that he is playing Shazam in a yet to be confirmed DC Comics movie.

On Wednesday, Johnson took to Twitter to end the speculations and instead confirmed that he is playing someone else who is also very familiar and relevant in Shazam's storyline, his nemesis Black Adam, Yahoo! Movies has learned.

"Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot." My honor to become.. #BlackAdam #TheAntiHero #DCComics," The Rock wrote as caption to an image showing the supervillain holding the DC hero in a headlock action.

Many fans were quick to congratulate the former WWE professional wrestler of his new role.

"Congrats" tweeted @JovanJordanXXX.

"Helllllllll yeah!!!" exclaimed @MarcusxAurelius.

"You're gonna fit the role tremendously!" wrote @BaneofWrestling.

"Awesome. Black Adam does not play," commented @TLuvslin.

Black Shazam is said to be the primary supervillain in Shazam's storyline. He is believed to have been granted special powers by ancient Egyptian gods.

Some of his powers include his unwavering and unlimited stamina, super-speed, incredible strength, the power of flight, and vast wisdom, among others.

It isn't clear yet whether the film will be focusing on Black Adam's storyline instead of Shazam's since the actor for the baddie was revealed first before the actor who is playing the superhero.

"We Love Dwayne and have had nothing but success with him over the years," Toby Emmerich, President and COO of New Line said of the former wrestler.

"When I look at Dwayne both off screen and on screen, he is such a larger than life character and it just made perfect sense to me that we put him in a DC comics movie. You look at these comic book characters and they have this certain swag and charisma that Dwayne carries with him where ever he is so that's why this always made sense," Emmerich added.

Alongside Johnson's confirmation via Twitter, it was also revealed that Warner Bros. has registered the domain name ShazamMovie.com, confirming the rumors that a DC Comics movie featuring Shazam is in the works, according to USA Today.

It can be noted that many were disappointed when the titular movie was not announced at San Diego Comic-Con. Now, apart from Johnson's confirmation of his baddie role on Twitter, it was already leaked that "Goosebumps" and "Jack the Giant Slayer" screenwriter Darren Lemke is already writing the script for the movie, noted MTV.

Johnson's regular collaborator, Hiram Garcia, will be producing the movie.

The Rock's announcement comes amid news that DC has already put release dates on nine yet to be named comic book films.
