"Mean Girls" co-stars Tina Fey and Lindsay Lohan recently snapped a photo together that made fans speculate the film could just have a part three after all.

On Tuesday, Lohan shared the photo via Instagram and wrote, "Lovely running into an inspiring, funny, beautiful old friend!!! #tinafey."

However, such rumors were immediately hushed after it was revealed that the recent meet up was for Entertainment Weekly's reunions issue, according to Yahoo.

The publication revealed an upcoming reunions issue that will feature both actresses and confirmed that it will be released this coming October 17, the same publication noted.

Meanwhile, it is still unclear whether or not other "Mean Girls" cast members will also be part of Entertainment Weekly's reunion issue months for now.

In the past, stars who have reunited for whatever reason have made it a point to snap photos together, People Magazine noted.

Back August, Amy Poehler posed for selfies with Lizzy Caplan and Daniel Franzese. Earlier this year, Lohan and Franzese met up at New York City's Bodega Negra where they were also photographed together, the same publication confirmed.

Caplan, Franzese and Poehler also spent some quality time in West Hollywood. Franzese posted a photo via Instagram and wrote, "Celebrating a bday and an Emmy nom last night for one of the greatest people you will ever meet #LizzyCaplan with our girl #AmyPoehler last night at the Chateau Marmont. #meangirls #northshort10yrreunion #damiansyearbook."

So is the possibility of an actual movie reunion possible several years after the release and success of "Mean Girls?" It seems that at the moment, such is a far-fetched plan.

But what is clear is that there's really no rift between Lohan and co-star Rachel McAdams.

In a recent interview with Allure Magazine, McAdams said, "If anything, I was in awe of her talent. I looked at her as this experienced actor, and she had great comedic timing, so natural."
