In a recent interview with Grantland, Hughes said he believes Schwarzenegger and Li's characters Trench Mauser and Yin Yang are together by the end of the movie.

After watching the film "Red Hill" staring "True Blood" actor Ryan Kwanten, Sylvester Stallone handpicked Hughes to direct third the installment of "The Expendables."

In the final scene of the film, the Expendables are at their favorite dive bar to celebrate after another successful mission of killing an endless parade of faceless bad guys.

Mauser is commiserating with Yang when the lead Expendable Barney Ross played by Stallone approaches them. While Mauser is Ross' old rival, Yang is one of the former compatriots of the lead Expendable.

"You guys want to get a room?" Ross said upon noticing Mauser and Yang getting cozy.

"We don't need a room!" Mauser pulls Yang in close. The two Expendables laugh after Yang rests his head on Trench's chest.

Whether Schwarzenegger and Li are playing a gay couple in the next installment of "The Expendables" is yet to be confirmed.

On the other hand, while he personally believes marriage should be between a man and a woman, Schwarzenegger has said he would not oppose any human being's legal rights to get married, according to The Guardian.

When Schwarzenegger was Governor of California, voters passed the Proposition 8 ballot initiative that banned same-sex marriage in the state. When it was challenged, his administration refused to defend it in the courts, Gay Star News reported.

In 2013, same-sex marriage was legalized in California as ruled by the Supreme Court of the United States. During his eight years in office as governor, Schwarzenegger performed two same-sex marriage ceremonies.

Meanwhile, Stallone recently joked about the rivalry he and Schwarzenegger had in the 1980s before they starred together in several films.

"I wanted to strangle him," Stallone jokingly said of the former California governor during his appearance on "The Tonight Show" on Aug. 14, Thursday.

"I think he's brilliant, what he's done, and what he's accomplished. He's had three different careers," Stallone also said of Schwarzenegger.
